What Is Profhilo?

Profhilo contains 32mg of low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (80-100Kda) and 32mg of high molecular weight hyaluronic acid (1100-1400Kda). This gives one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market totalling 64mg of HA in a 2ml prefilled syringe.

Profhilo is developed using a patented technology creating hybrid complexes between high and low molecular weight HA - without the use of any chemical cross-linking compounds. These complexes increase the stability of HA to enzymatic and mechanical degradation.

Many areas can be treated to improve skin elasticity and treat "baggy skin", including the face, neck, chest, underarms, hands, and abdomen.

How does it work?

The HA molecules draw water into the skin structures to improve skin hydration, and the high molecular weight HA provides a stable HA architecture in the dermis. This gives a volumetric "lift" effect.

The stable co-operative hybrid complex increases the expression levels of type I and III collagen in fibroblasts, and type IV and VII collagen in keratinocytes. This results in improved skin quality and hydration in both the dermis and epidermis. There is also increased production of endogenous HA and elastin, giving the skin a more youthful look.

Hybrid co-operative HA complexes are more stable with natural hyaluronidase digestion when compared to H-HA (widely used in biorevitalisation products) or L-HA used alone. This results in a long-lasting release and dual action of the two HA components, ideal for remodelling skin laxity.

What should I expect?

The injections are strategically placed at key points to rejuvenate the skin's own collagen making abilities; there are usually 10 injections per area. It can be used in the face, neck, chest, abdomen, arms or hands.

Two treatments are recommended, spaced 4 weeks apart, and the benefits will last approximately 6 months. Repeat treatments are usually needed every 6 months.

No medical procedure is without risk, and you will discuss these thoroughly with your practitioner in your consultation prior to treatment. Some risks of Profhilo include: swelling, bruising, redness, bleeding, numbness, cold sores, infection, and allergic reaction. To minimise these risks, choose a practitioner with suitable qualifications, training, and experience.
