Anti-Wrinkle Treatments
Improving the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
What are Anti-Wrinkle Treatments?
Treatment involves a series of small injections in order to weaken the chosen muscles, for example on the brow or below the eyes. This works by partially blocking nerve impulses to reduce excessive contractions of that muscle.

Weakening of the injected muscles begins to be apparent after 2-5 days, with the peak effect being reached after 10-14 days*. Results can last 3-6 months depending on the muscles targeted, but the longevity may vary between individuals.

The procedure can be repeated after 3 months to maintain the results of the first treatment. However, injections given at less than 3 month intervals may reduce the efficacy of the injections.

*When treating the masseter this takes up to 6 weeks

Anti-Wrinkle Treatments can be used to target:
-
Forehead lines
-
Frown lines
-
Crows feet
-
Bunny lines
-
Gummy smile
-
Dimpled chin
-
Perioral lines

Injections can also be used to help with excessive sweating, teeth grinding, or to improve jawline definition, as well as lifting the neck or brow - talk to your practitioner about these treatments.
What should I expect?
Most patients find the injections only cause mild, temporary discomfort. Aesthetic treatments are not recommended if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

Unlike dermal fillers, results are not apparent immediately, and take up to 14 days to be seen. The treatment will last anywhere between 3-6 months depending on the area treated, but starts to wear off before this. Repeat treatments are usually needed every 3 months.

No medical procedure is without risk, and you will discuss these thoroughly with your practitioner in your consultation prior to treatment. Some risks of anti-wrinkle injections include: swelling, bruising, redness, bleeding, infection, headache or flu-like symptoms, allergic reaction, or unsatisfactory outcome (e.g. brow droop). To minimise these risks, choose a practitioner with suitable qualifications, training, and experience.
